Mooer Tube Engine
Mooer Tube Engine - 100% tube is my favorite, but with tubes your compromise is with your wallet, and a little more cumbersome to transport. Why only one volume knob? I chose the mooer tube engine as an inexpensive tube amp to power a 2x12 fender stage 1600 that i converted to a passive cabinet after the solid state head died. Im looking at the valeton tube engine because of the bass and treble controls, i want to replace my maxon od9 which sounds great but lacks the creaminess and high end spark that my od808 has (this one lacks the mid hump). It always lacked some punch and thickness to the sound that was easily achievable with things like baby bomb. My other types are orange pedal baby 100 and mooer tube engine 20.
Mooer tube engine (not sure if it would keep clean, though). After running preamp blocks with appropriate gain levels into the mooer, it actually sounds pretty good. Rack is ok i guess but something in a small head shell would be preferred. I know i sound crazy trying to replace a high end pedal like a maxon od9. It always lacked some punch and thickness to the sound that was easily achievable with things like baby bomb.

I have the same issues with the fryette single space one. It always lacked some punch and thickness to the sound that was easily achievable with things like baby bomb. The cabinet contains a wgs retro 30 and a wgs g12c/s, both rated at like 99.6 db i think, for anyone interested in that. My other types are orange pedal.

They should make a 100w version. Basically for me what it came down to is the orange gave me the closest to tube feel, at a price i could deal with, at a form factor that isn't cumbersome, with an eq i could live with. Ran that for awhile, now i’m using frfr. Why only one volume knob? I've discovered.

Mooer Tube Engine - I have the same issues with the fryette single space one. I've discovered preamp blocks sound best through the tube power amp, while full amp blocks on the helix sound best through a ultra transparent ss power amp. I know i sound crazy trying to replace a high end pedal like a maxon od9. 100% tube is my favorite, but with tubes your compromise is with your wallet, and a little more cumbersome to transport. Got the 44magnum as a backup for the tube amp, tried it out and it sounded awesome also so ditched the tube amp. On The Negative Side Mooer Has Unpleasant Fizz When Playing At Low Volume And You Always Feel Its Sterile Solid State.

I Only Played Through Fx Return Of Some Tube Amps But Have Never Got Satisfying Results (Helix, Atomic, Gt1000).
